Who is the ideal candidate for the RPM program?
RPMs are hired from a variety of backgrounds: we look for people with full-time experiences in various industries or they can be recent graduates. We actively seek applicants with no tech experience. RPM is suited for individuals completely new to the product manager (PM) function. Individuals with more than 1 year of PM experience, inclusive of PM internships, should apply for Product Manager roles listed at Facebook Careers.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: they can define metrics and analyze those metrics to make informed decisions
- Organizational and leadership skills: they can share experiences where they've helped others play to their strengths, working with a number of colleagues to prioritize tasks and get things done in a fast-paced environment
How long is the RPM program?
The RPM program lasts 18 months and is comprised of 3 different Product Management rotations. RPM is full-time employment and leads to continued full-time employment as a PM upon graduation.
How is Product Management at Facebook different from other companies?
Facebook optimizes for impact and our products affect billions of people. We have a responsibility to build high-caliber, daring, empathetic, and collaborative products. The RPM program provides experience, variety, and ownership to impact those products, along with an incredibly supportive community which lasts long after the program ends.
RPMs and alums regularly connect outside of work. The RPM community also organizes guest speakers to give talks at Facebook and they travel abroad together to research new technology trends around the world.
What does a ‘day in the life’ of a Facebook RPM look like?
There really is no 'typical' day—your days will vary depending on what part of a product's lifecycle you're in. Some of the core responsibilities of RPMs include enabling your team to execute well, ensuring a great product experience, and communicating your team’s impact across the company.

How do I apply to the RPM program?
We hire RPMs once a year for two start dates in the following calendar year. There are five Facebook offices which support RPMs: Menlo Park, Seattle, New York City, London, and Tel Aviv. We also offer a remote option in the United States. Applications generally open in late July or early August on Facebook Careers. We encourage you to sign up for alerts there so you are notified when applications go live.

Is RPM a remote-eligible position?
RPM is a remote-eligible position in the United States. RPMs hired as remote employees must reside in the United States or be able to relocate to the United States by their start date.
How can I prepare for the interview process?
The RPM interview process differs from traditional behavioral-type interviews when you typically talk about your past experiences. Instead, we focus on case studies where you can showcase your ability to think through problems as you would on the job. Specifically, we will be looking for how you structure your approach to a problem (e.g. using a framework to think methodically), your ability to consider tradeoffs, how you empathize with users and think about different user segments, and how creative or innovative you might be in your response.
Most applicants have skills in these areas but they might not have formally exercised them in an interview environment. It may be helpful to read two books to understand these interview objectives and how they relate to the PM job: Cracking the PM Interview and Decode and Conquer. Applicants may also choose to search for retired PM interview questions to practice. All applicants who move forward in the recruiting process will be given additional materials to consider but we advise preparation before the application process as interviews can happen quickly.
Is there anything else I should know about applying?
RPM attracts many talented applicants so recruiters need time to evaulate your resume and short answer responses. Outreach to applicants is ongoing through the end of the year in which you apply.
